"How environment affects the evolution of galaxies in clusters"

Ram pressure stripping and tidal harassment are both effective in galaxy clusters. Those physical processes can explain some observational properties like stripping of the interstellar medium and star formation enhancement followed by quenching. However, deep studies remain to be done to explain the evolution of discy galaxies into faint luminosity elliptical galaxies. Another open question is the presence of compact galaxies in cluster cores and their formation.
